This is just a selection of diamonds that are available from J Caudle and Co.  For information and pricing on a diamond of your choice, call Sherry, our Graduate Gemologist or JC at 1-256-574-6461.  We have many years of experience grading loose diamonds and evaluating good purchase value.

Most of our diamonds have an independent report on the color, clarity and proportions, as noted in the report column.  As part of your purchase from J Caudle and Company, we will supply an insurance document with diamonds valued over $500.  This document will contain our grading analysis, as well as the independent analysis report if applicable.  Our document will also have a replacement value* included so it can be used to get your diamond insured.

*Replacement value is only a value for your insurance company’s use.  This is not an offer to buy or a value where you can go and sell the stone.

DIAMOND PROPORTIONS (CUT)

 TOLKOWSKY IDEAL CUT
The proportions on the first diagram are known as the Tolkowsky Ideal Cut. These proportions were calculated in 1919 by Marcel Tolkowsky and became generally accepted as the best way to cut the most beautiful round brilliant diamond.  Over time and development of new technology, cutters have discovered that diamonds cut slightly outside these parameters can still yield a stone with beautiful light performance and retain the weight that is so important.  The next diagram shows the modern day generally accepted ideal cut ranges.

MODERN DAY IDEAL RANGES
The proportions on this diagram are generally accepted ranges for each parameter.  Keep in mind that these are guidelines and there are other factors outside of proportions that impact the beauty of a diamond such as the symmetry (facet shape and alignment) and polish. It is important in your search for your stone to be aware that diamonds cut to proportions slightly outside the parameters can be extremely beautiful.
